Vex Quest

Vex Quest is an early experimental video piece featuring female combatants in  six vignettes modeled after typical arcade games of the 1980’s and 1990’s. It unfolds with pairs of women placed in stylised poses with accompanying categories mimicking data rating attributes such as “Force of Impact”, “Velocity” etc.
Each vignette goes on to present a pair of women in more or less ordinary situations which then escalate into physical violence. It speaks of female power, the hubris of ego and entitlement and the disconnections in physical and spoken language. Yet, the piece also inhabits a space of uninhibited and playful parody.
